A major wastewater infrastructure project in the City of Barron is set to start this summer. The $5.2 million project focusing on the complete replacement and modernization of the city’s main lift station, located off 14th Street. 14th Street Lift Station plays a critical role in the city’s wastewater system, pumping all wastewater from the City of Barron to the Barron-Cameron Wastewater Treatment Facility, said Jeremy Boe, utility manager for Barron Light & Water.
There’s a new development coming to the Village of Cameron, on a five-acre parcel of vacant land located between County Hwy. SS (First Street) and Cameron Elementary School. An Altoona, Wis.-based developer has received permission from the Cameron Village Board to begin building the residential complex. The development will include 40 units of senior citizen housing and duplexes, some of which will have basements.
Embrace and the Community Referral Agency (CRA) have announced the relocation of their Barron County office to a new, more visible space at 5 W. John Street in Rice Lake. Situated just off Main Street, the new location is expected to help reach more survivors in need of support services. The move marks a new chapter in the partnership between Embrace and CRA as they continue their mission to provide advocacy and resources to survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence across Barron County.
Camerama Days are coming to the village of Cameron once more this coming weekend, from Friday through Sunday, May 30-June 1. But the event list is reduced from previous years. According to online sources and the Village of Cameron, scheduled events are as follows.
A celebration and salute to farmers returns with the 50th annual Barron County Dairy Breakfast on Saturday, June 7, at Hillsdale Dairy. Serving is 6-11 a.m. on the farm, located at 815 Highway 25, a half-mile north of Hillsdale. Hosting the event is Ben and Sandee Kraft, along with their sons Matthew, Clayton, Wesley, and brother Ervin Kraft. Admission to the event is a freewill offering.
